It's finally Christmas time once again and we are all gearing up for a tasty dinner, presents, and fun times with family and friends. While you enjoy all of that, make sure you don't forget to get your healthy amount of gaming in. So, let's take a look at some of the best Christmas games on PS5 you should play to end 2025 with!

PS5 and PS4 games to play at Christmas

This list is curated by the TrueTrophies team of Staff Writers Sean and Jamie, as well as New Editor Lee, and Editor in Chief Kes. All of our writing team has experience in the games listed below, but we also all have different tastes. So, we've used those experiences alongside community rating and critical reception to shape the ranking.

The list includes 11 Christmas-themed games to celebrate the festive period, though not all of them are set at Christmas. So long as it has some kind of festive vibes, we are in the clear to include it. These games will be available on PS5, PS4, and PS Plus.

Here are the 11 best Christmas games on PS5.

11. The Long Dark

  • Here are the The Long Dark trophies
  • Platform(s): PS4
  • Developer: Hinterland Studio
  • Is it on PS Plus? Yes, on PS Plus Extra
We promise games set at Christmas are coming. However, how can we pass up a game filled with as much ice, shivers, and snow as this incredible survival game set in a harsh landscape? The desolate world of The Long Dark is perfect for those looking for a game with a bit more grit and bleakness during this festive period — although just be wary that its platinum requires a discontinued trophy that needs a workaround!

10. Dead Rising 4 Frank's Big Package

  • Here are the Dead Rising 4 trophies
  • Platform(s): PS4
  • Developer: Capcom Vancouver
  • Is it on PS Plus? No
Do you know what screams Christmas? That's right, it's obviously zombies. Blood-soaked snow, brains splattered on the walls, and lots of decomposed corpses chomping down on anything that dares to move can bring you that festive cheer you are looking for.

Diving back into the shoes of journalist Frank West (Dead Rising's original protagonist), you will return to where the incident originally started, Willamette. This time, however; we have the luxury of exploring outside of the Willamette Shopping Mall and seeing what the town has to offer up. Spoiler alert: it's more zombies.

9. Yakuza 0

  • Here are the Yakuza 0 trophies
  • Platform(s): PS4
  • Developer: Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio
  • Is it on PS Plus? No
Yakuza 0 may be a bit of a surprise entry, but it's actually set in December 1988! It may be hard to see as there isn't much in the way of Christmas decorations or anything to really give away what time of year it is (seems Japan might not go as hard as the west on this front).

There are some very slight hints with a couple of side missions as to what festivities are underway, but you would be forgiven for not noticing. Either way, it's still an opportunity to promote on the best games in the Like a Dragon franchise — just don't get your hopes up on unlocking its absolutely brutal platinum trophy.

8. Disney Dreamlight Valley

  • Here are the Disney Dreamlight Valley trophies
  • Platform(s): PS5, PS4
  • Developer: Gameloft
  • Is it on PS Plus? No
Disney Dreamlight Valley offers you an addictive life-sim where you live alongside your favorite Disney and Pixar characters, building them homes, doing some interior decoration, and building up the Valley how you see fit. Just hanging out with Disney characters already feels like a Christmas treat, but Disney Dreamlight Valley also really ups the Christmas vibes each year with Winter Holiday events and loads Christmas Day Presents to unpack!

7. Hogwarts Legacy

  • Here are the Hogwarts Legacy trophies
  • Platform(s): PS5, PS4
  • Developer: Avalanche Software
  • Is it on PS Plus? Yes, it's available on PS Plus Extra
In Hogwarts Legacy, you play as a fifth-year student at Hogwarts, who happens to be running late to the house sporting event due to a dragon attack and magical portals. It's a whole chain of events that will span your time in the wizarding world. Thankfully, Hogwarts is absolutely stunning, so it should help take your mind off of the horrors that want to take a bite out of you.

With the game taking place across the different seasons, you can expect to get lost in a stunning winter wonderland at Christmas time, filled with snow, presents, and festive surprises. While the Christmas period doesn't take up the whole game, it's certainly big enough to warrant its place on this list!

6. Christmas Massacre

  • Here are the Christmas Massacre trophies
  • Platform(s): PS5, PS4
  • Developer: PuppetCombo
  • Is it on PS Plus? No
What could scream Christmas time more than dressing up as Santa and running around slaughtering everyone you see because a sentient Christmas tree told you to? Well, that's the entire premise of Christmas Massacre, a game that's definitely not be for the faint of heart. Only check this one out if you want your present unwrapping to feel a little more extreme this year.

5. Bully

  • Here are the Bully trophies
  • Platform(s): PS4
  • Developer: Rockstar Vancouver
  • Is it on PS Plus? No
What could be more fun than attending classes during the Christmas period? Okay, many, many, many things are more fun than school. But are they as fun as being a mischievous little devil and causing mayhem for all the adults and students around you? We think not.

Bully comes from Rockstar — best known for the GTA series — and is a strangely addictive game about making it through boarding school while attending classes, defending the weak from bullies, and being a bit of a menace on the side. The third chapter of the game is set at Christmas time, so get your baseball bat and wreak havoc on the snowmen around town.

4. Kingdom Hearts 2

  • Here are the Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix trophies
  • Platform(s): PS4
  • Developer: Square Enix
  • Is it on PS Plus? No
Kingdom Hearts 2 is a magical adventure in one of the most beloved franchises out there and it just so happens to have an entire level dedicated to this most festive time of the year — Christmas Town. This level features everyone's favorite bag of bones, Jack Skellington, from the legendary film The Nightmare Before Christmas. If you ask us, what could be more perfect than hanging out here on Christmas day?

3. God of War Ragnarok

  • Here are the God of War Ragnarok trophies
  • Platform(s): PS5, PS4
  • Developer: Santa Monica Studio
  • Is it on PS Plus? No
While God of War Ragnarok might not be exactly the Christmas-themed game you'd expect to crop up on this list. It has snow — lots and lots of snow — and even a bit of ice for good measure. Midgard's snowy landscape certainly sets the vibe you want at Christmas, along with the action-packed fun of throwing your magical axe at enemies and watching them burst into a blur of bloody gory gunk. Perfect for the whole family, then!

Jokes aside, God of War Ragnarok's snow-filled world helps to bring that Christmas-y feeling we all want this time of year. Plus, with so many side missions and trophies to complete — not to mention a lot of cozy family table conversations throughout — the game definitely feels perfect for players who just want to sink into their sofa and feel festive on PS5.

2. Astro Bot

  • Here are the Astro Bot trophies
  • Platform(s): PS5
  • Developer: Team Asobi
  • Is it on PS Plus? No
Astro Bot is already taking the world by storm as one of the best PS5 games to release in 2024. The snappy platforming, genius-level design, gorgeous locations, and adorable mascot really help make Astro Bot the smash hit that it is.

However, the recent free Astro Bot update has added a Christmas-themed level for you to get absorbed in. So, the game now also qualifies for this super special list of the best Christmas games as well! Just note that you'll need to beat the story first before getting to access this magical stage.

1. Spider-Man Miles Morales

  • Here are the Marvel's Spider-Man Miles Morales trophies
  • Platform(s): PS5, PS4
  • Developer: Insomniac Games
  • Is it on PS Plus? Yes, on PS Plus Extra
Finally, at the top spot is a game Marvel's Spider-Man Miles Morales — an incredible PS5 action game that not only feels perfect for Christmas-time players, but also happens to be set during Christmas! Feel like a true hero as you swing around the snowy streets of New York City and save the world from a plethora of baddies hellbent on spoiling this most festive time of the year.

That brings us to the end of this list of games that you should be playing this Christmas. Are there any best PS5 games we should consider adding that bring the Christmas vibes? Have any of these listed titles taken your fancy or are you sticking to whatever you find under the tree? Let us know in the comments below!
